Theatre Rehearsals

 

 

 

REHEARSAL RULES:  Rehearsals prepare your children for their performance in The Nutcracker.  Attendance at ALL rehearsals is required.  Missed rehearsals compromise not only the individual's safety and ability to learn, but also the group performance.  If you have an emergency and need to miss rehearsal you MUST notify an artistic director prior to rehearsal.

REHEARSALS AT THE ACADEMY OF MUSIC,

MAIN STREET, NORTHAMPTON:

All times will be posted on the cast information sheet.

Theatre times may change due to casting enrollment.

 

NO ONE WILL BE EXCUSED FROM THEATRE REHEARSALS. No one but pre-assigned volunteers wearing name tags will be allowed anywhere in the theater building.  Parents must leave after dropping off their children. 

 

Theater Rehearsals will be held at the ACADEMY OF MUSIC, 274 Main Street, Northampton, MA

 

Saturday, December 6:  –  Corps, Fleur du Cour & Polichinelles 

Sunday, December 7:  Theatre Orientation, Reindeer, Angels, Lead Angels, Gingerbread, Candy Canes, Pages, Fleur de Cour, Party Scene & Battle Scene

Wednesday, December 10:  –  All cast members EXCEPT reindeer

Thursday, December 11:  –  Full Dress Rehearsal SUNDAY CAST ONLY (1:00 cast reindeer)

Friday, December 12:  –  4:00pm & 7:30pm Performances at the Academy of Music

Saturday, December 13:  –  1:00pm & 4:30pm Performances at the Academy of Music

Sunday, December 14:  –  1:00pm & 4:30pm Performances at the Academy of Music 

    

 

 

GENERAL THEATER NOTES:

• No jewelry of any kind (including pierced earrings) may be worn on stage.

• Costumes are not allowed to leave the theater at any time and of course eating and drinking in costume is not allowed

Please DO NOT bring money, valuables or jewelry to the theatre.

 

 

COSTUMES:  Corps/Divertissements need pink mesh tights with seams, Pointe shoes, white dance trunks (Snow), pink dance trunks (Flowers), and nude (short tutu roles).  Only proper jewelry (rhinestone earrings) is allowed to be worn.  Dancers are not allowed to leave the theatre in costume or in makeup at any time.  Dancers who ignore this rule may have consequences.

 

 

MAKE-UP NOTES:  For hygienic purposed all cast member must provide their own make-up and false eyelashes.

NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE THEATRE WEARING STAGE MAKE-UP

 Lipstick Colors:  (Party Scene GIRLS & LADIES, ANGELS, PAGES – any “wine” without purple tints; Party Scene MEN & BOYS—Loreal “Coffee Bean” or equivalent, SOLDIERS – Revlon “Red” or equivalent.)

 

 

HAIR NOTES: Party Scene LADIES, MEN, GIRLS & BOYS should not cut their hair and are responsible for arriving with hair styled for dress rehearsals and performances in 1850’s styles with no bangs.  (Specific information will be given at time of costume fitting.)  ANGELS must arrive with hair in a high 4” bun following the diagonal line of their jaw and no bangs; POLICHINELLES, PAGES, REINDEER, SOLDIERS, & MICE must arrive with hair pulled off face and flat to top of head and no bangs

 

 

PERFORMANCES

All performances are held at the Academy of Music, 274 Main Street, Northampton, MA.

 

FRIDAY,  DECEMBER 12th at  4:00 &7:30 PM

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13th at  1:00 & 4:30 PM

 SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14th at 1:00 & 4:30 PM

 

No one will be allowed to video or audio tape or  photograph any rehearsal or performance.  ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR drink in the audience. 

 

All cast members use “stage door” (South Street entrance).  Act I arrives 1 hour before performance (Party Scene LADIES and GIRLS arrive1½ hours before performance– with hair already styled).   Act II arrives ½ hour before beginning of performance.  Sign in and go to dressing rooms for make-up and costume (in that order).  Party Scene GIRLS & BOYS, ANGELS, POLICHINELLES and REINDEER bring books and/or quiet games and old blankets to sit on.  Children performing in both shows on one day should bring a sandwich to eat between shows as there is not enough time to remove make-up, go out to eat, and reapply it.  Dancers under age 14 will only be allowed to leave the theatre when signed out by a parent or guardian.

NO ONE, INCLUDING DANCERS WHO HAVE NOT BEEN CALLED TO THE WINGS BY THE ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER, WILL BE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE, (except REINDEER and  POLICHINELLE parents who volunteer for their child’s performance and escort them to and from the stage.
