Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why do I need to pay a total of $40 for my child to be in Nutcracker?

  • $20 is an audition fee. This helps pay for the cost of having the Artistic Directors at the studio for auditions. It also helps defray the cost of paperwork required to cast over 150 performers. Please note that the audition fee for PVB students is only $15.
  • $20 is a costume fee. This helps to pay for the cost to create new costumes, repair old costumes and clean all of the costumes for over 150 performers in the production. Performers do not keep PVB costumes.

2. What does my child get from this experience?

  • The study of dance in general creates focus, discipline and a love of the arts in children. Your child will participate in a production that takes place in one of this country’s oldest historic theaters and it will be an experience s/he will remember forever.
  • Your child will receive many hours of training at an average cost to you of about $1.50 or less an hour. And if s/he is interested in dance and enjoys the experience at PVB rehearsals, we are always accepting new students!
  • Your child will also learn some skills while participating in Nutcracker, such as how to work with a group, aspects of being on stage, and how much hard work, practice and preparation it takes to do this kind of endeavor.

3. Who will watch my child during rehearsals and performances?

  • The board of directors of PVB takes this important responsibility very seriously. There is a large team of volunteers that help out with rehearsals and performances. WE ALWAYS NEED VOLUNTEERS AND NEW PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED AND NEEDED TO HELP.

4. How do I get tickets?

  • Each year our audience grows and last year we nearly sold out all shows. PVB will have ticket brochures available to you which provide all students the opportunity to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

5. What if I have further questions or concerns?

  • Please feel free to talk to Walter Clune, PVB’s new Business Manager or Sue Dadmun, PVB Board President. They will be able to answer your questions and address any concerns you may have.
