Michael Abbatiello studied at Ohio State University where he had the opportunity to work with Bebe Miller, Olivier Tarpaga and Dante Brown. After graduating with a BFA focused in Media and Performance with Choreography, Michael moved to New York, where he has worked with Dante Brown|Warehouse Dance, BARE Dance Company, The People Movers, Project 44, Bryn Cohn + Artists, Aaron McGloin Dance, and Maya Orchin Dance.
Michael currently choreographs under the moniker lostinflow and has taught at such institutions as Dance New Amsterdam, Gibney Dance Center, Mark Morris Dance Center, Peridance Capezio Center, School Of Contemporary Dance & Thought, Amherst College, Bates College, Rider University, Muhlenberg College, and the Teachers College at Columbia University.
During his tenure as a professional dancer, Michael worked as Master Electrician with The Vanderbilt Republic, Production Manager with CRAWL performance series, Technical Director for Celebrity Dance Competitions and helped in a technical capacity with such spaces as The Kitchen, NYLA, The Green Building, Triskelion Arts, Gowanus Arts + Productions, White Box Arts Center, Invisible Dog, Brooklyn Desks Factory, LGBT Center, and the Gowanus Loft. He is currently the resident Lighting Designer at Studio 4 in Northampton, Massachusetts, and Technical Director at Marlboro College. He is excited to be
working with Pioneer Valley Ballet to help its productions come to life while also helping out with day-to-day tasks.
